Photography Courses
Since 2005 Gallery One, in partnership with the Tauranga Photographic Society, has held classes in Tauranga. Gallery One offers photography classes in Tauranga, New Zealand and photography courses and Photoshop courses both online and by correspondence. These courses are run by Trish and Alistair McAuslan from the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. The courses are quite reasonably priced - see their website for more information http://web.mac.com/galleryonephoto/galleryonephoto/Home.html.
Photoshop
Several people have expressed interest in acquiring Photoshop skills. It is well worth it to check out the podcasts on the iTunes store. These are all free to download and watch, but you do need to install iTunes first (and no, you do not have to have an iPod!). And a broadband internet connection will make this much more enjoyable. iTunes download http://www.apple.com/nz/itunes/
Once you have installed iTunes, start the program (it will want to scan your computer for music the first time it runs) click on the iTunes store link on the left-hand-side. From there you can browse or search for photoshop and photography-related podcasts. These will download to your computer first, then you can play and re-play the podcasts at any time.

Congratulations to Tina with her image of an old boat, with runners-up Keith and Robbo.
The club has also decided to accept digital images as well as prints for the Open section from now on. It is still preferred to see prints at the meeting though. No excuses for not submitting now :)
Club Website:
The Matamata Camera Club website has a fresh new look for 2009. It's not quite finished yet but have a look at http://matamatacameraclub.bravehost.com/. In particular I have yet to finish the Gallery, with the plan being to run a slideshow of the theme images each month.
We would also like to showcase our members best work, so please send me up to 6 of your best images to caproff [@] movingstill.net.nz and I'll upload them to the club website. We now have sets by Gilbert and Dan posted.
June Theme:
The set theme for next month is ‘Autumn Botanicals'.
Remember to email your theme images to Sarah at essjaynz@gmail.com
